The “Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom” Facebook group strategy worked

Since some of you don’t keep up with Taylor Swift news as much as I do, Kevin McGuire is a high school student in New Jersey. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer in 7th grade, went into remission, and recently relapsed as a senior in high school. Like most of the male population, he is absolutely in love with Taylor Swift, so his sister started a Facebook page creatively entitled “Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom”

So, anyways, Taylor somehow saw it, but she had to decline. She didn’t state a reason. Instead, she made the counteroffer of taking him to the Academy of Country Music award show as her date.

WHAT! As you can imagine, this guy accepted the invitation for the event (April 1) immediately. T-Swift is nominated for the entertainer of the year, female vocalist and video categories at the ACM Awards (see my post on her past awards show). Anyways, this guy’s sister gushed: “The McGuire family could never show how grateful we are to all of you! …We have won in more than one way. We got Taylor to take Kevin on a date, and we have made so many good friends along the way!”

It’s another heartwarming example of how Taylor Swift is really an angel.
